Well at first you might think that the best way to weigh your own head is to chop it off and place it on the scales.
However, re-attaching your head afterwards is not easy (and in fact impossible).
Resting you head on the scales is no good either. Why? Because your neck would still be supporting some of your weight.
There is a simpler way however - put a bucket on a large tray, fill it to the brim with water and then stick your head in.
Why? Because weighing the water that spills over into the tray will give you a fairly good approximation of the weight of your head.
Strange, but true(and it's great school holiday fun for the kids! :-)
Or...
... if you're okay not knowing the exact weight, then according to the anatomy department at Sydney University, the weight of an adult head is around 5kg.
But of course, that doesn't take into consideration how much information is inside your head now does it?
